This is incredibly misguided because the only way to get legitimate AI talent at scale is to train them yourself in the current market.

There’s no talent in the market they could afford, nor is it in the pipeline - global education systems have not been able to respond yet to the challenge posed by a rapidly evolving new general purpose technology nor will they be able to meet the demand for years, a situation know well from cybersecurity.

The market is also swamped with questionable AI experts and a lack of credible certifications (or even the knowledge and ability to conduct them in this rapidly changing field), leaving non expert recruiters challenged.

In the face of deep disruption companies will have to adjust their expectations on talent development, but it’s clear Intuit did not do their homework.

Overall it is more likely that Intuit is attempting to sugar coat deep cuts triggered by the IRS launching its free tax filing solution with magic AI sprinkle dust to shareholders
